We have recently started a new social studies unit about our local community. To help the students better understand the idea of citizens and local leadership, we took a field trip to City Hall.
Before our tour we took opportunity to explore Confederation Park, a worthwhile outing for us all. During our tour, we were very blessed to have a guide that was both knowledgeable and had a sense of humour (more on that another day!).
A highlight for us all was to be able to meet the mayor. He very graciously took the time to say hello, sit with us, and answer many questions.
It was a valuable time of learning and of putting in to practice our academic and life skills that we have been practicing.
