Grade 7 & 8
Resurrection Project

Resurrection Project

The 2018-19 Grade 7/8 multimedia painting entitled “Resurrection” has spent the last 4 months at the historic St. Marks Anglican Church in Barriefield. Thank you to Fr. Haynes Hubbard, his wife Susan, and his son Caspian (one of the artists) for their support during this project, and for giving the artwork its first home!

The painting has found a new venue at Westside Fellowship Christian Reformed Church, where artists Samara deJonge, Lucinda deBoer, Jean Hough, Abigail McKenna, Izzy Kooy, and Tim Vander Wilp attend. Pastor Heidi deJonge will tie the artwork into a series of talks on Christ’s Resurrection in the new year!

About the Resurrection Project:

During last year’s Resurrection Project, the Grade 7/8 class focused on life, death, and God’s plan for us in the afterlife. The students created a 4×6 multimedia collaborative painting which incorporated pebbles, coloured mirror tile, gold foil, and gravestone rubbings from their historical tour of the Cataraqui Cemetery. During a culminating Gallery Opening Reception at KCS, the students’ individual resurrection-themed paintings were also exhibited.

You who dwell in the dust, awake and sing for joy!

For your dew is a dew of light,

and the earth will give birth to the dead.
