Heavy Laden

“Mrs. Snoek, did you cut a tree down on your day off?” asked a student as she saw me walk in to school carrying a stump.

“Why is there a stump in the classroom?”

The stump in question is the Jesse Tree, a beautiful tradition I learned about only a few years ago.  Each day the students and I read a devotion based on the promises of God, and how, from the very creation of the world, we watch and wait for the birth of Jesus.

Each day a student adds an ornament to represent God’s promise and faithfulness to His people.

It is now Christmas, and the tree is full of the fulfillment of God’s promises.

Merry Christmas!  May you find rest in God’s goodness.
